Rob Purlee - President

Rob played both collegiate football (Quarterback) and collegiate basketball at Monmouth College. He spent 12 years as a College Basketball Coach before making a professional pivot into the financial services sector. He has coached youth baseball, softball, boys basketball, & girls basketball for both the OYAA & Olentangy Baseball Club, as well as two years of Middle School Softball at Olentangy Orange MS. His softball teams have won over 100 games in the last two years.

Joe Leonetti - Vice President

Joe is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has been a Senior Financial Advisor with Huntington since 1998. Joe was a three sport athlete in high school and also baseball through college. Joe has remained active in the Olentangy Community since 2004 while always coaching their kids in something… baseball, softball, soccer, swim team, golf.

As a father of four, Joe has spent a majorty of his last 20 years in youth sports coaching two boys in baseball and two daughters in softball… with two boys and one daughter playing baseball in our organization. Joe is all about “Community” & “Team” while enjoying being a part of Orange Athletics 

Max Gunn - Director of Baseball

Max is an Assistant Principal at Westerville City Schools and has a background in both education and sports. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Special Education and later earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education.

Before his role in Westerville, Max spent eight years coaching at the Varsity level, mostly at Olentangy Berlin High School where he was also an Intervention Specialist. He’s also been the Director of Baseball for the Olentangy Baseball Club for the past three years, running camps and clinics for young players.

Max lives in Powell, Ohio, with his wife, Carly, and their daughter, Josie. He’s passionate about helping students grow both in and out of the classroom, and enjoys staying involved in the sports community.

Shelly Torrano - Treasurer

Shelly has worked in the Insurance and Financial Services industry for over 25 years and began volunteering as the Olentangy Baseball Club Treasurer in Spring 2023. Her daughter is a graduate of Olentangy Berlin High School and is currently attending college in Florida. Her son attends Olentangy Berlin Middle School and has been playing for the OBC organization since 2021. Shelly has always enjoyed cheering for her kids in their various activities and volunteering in the community.  

Chris Afre - Technology Director

Chris is the 12U Baseball and 14U Softball coach. Chris was a 3 sport athlete in high school and has 11 years of experience coaching baseball, softball, and football for OYAA, OPLL, Olentangy Baseball and Softball Clubs.

Zac Brazen - Director of Player Development

Zac graduated from Defiance College with a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Mathematics, where he also competed as a pitcher for the Yellow Jackets baseball team. For the past five years, Zac has served as an instructor at D-BAT Columbus North, helping athletes refine their skills and reach their full potential.

He currently works as an Intervention Aide at Olentangy Berlin High School, where he also serves as the Head Pitching Coach and Assistant Coach within the school’s baseball program. Beyond the high school level, Zac has been heavily involved with the Olentangy Baseball Club, coaching at the 16U and 17U levels and now serving as the Collegiate Head Coach and Director of Player Development for the organization.

Zac lives in Delaware, Ohio, with his wife Kennedy. He is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the field, fostering development, discipline, and a love for the game.

Josh Rovai - Director of Community Engagement

Josh is a graduate of Ohio University and currently is a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Parker Hannifin. As a father of 4 boys, Josh has been coaching youth sports for over 13 years. He currently has three sons at Olentangy Berlin High School and one at Berlin Middle School.
